  • Dynamo Kiev are hoping to end a 31-year wait for a win over Benfica – after recording their only ever success (and scoring their only goal) against the Lisbon giants back in 1991 (W1, D1, L4) – when the two teams meet over two legs in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) playoffs. These sides actually faced off in the group stages of this competition last year, when a draw and defeat against the Portuguese outfit contributed to the Blue and Whites finishing bottom of the group with zero wins.
  • Having to play this game in Łódź, Poland, the 2-0 loss to Benfica in December proved to be Dynamo’s penultimate game before the war in Ukraine ended their season.
